" As a lifelong resident and former Police Officer and Mayor of the City of Barrie, I try to support local businesses and buy locally.
However, during a two-week period to acquire a General Contractor, all I received was very expensive estimates from some and others that committed to the job but never showed up to do the work. or call me.
That was until I contacted Northern Homes Ltd. and my problems were solved. The owner Terry contacted me, gave me an estimate over the phone, and committed to when he would do the job.
Terry arrived on schedule and completed the work in less than half the time that all other General Contractors & handyman services had quoted.
He is extremely knowledgeable and did a professional job.

We went with Terry from Northern Homes for our basement project as he was extremely professional from the get-go, and provided a very competitive quote. The house is for a senior with disabilities, so we were very sensitive about not only the output, but the workers and renovation process. It was clear from his approach at the initial meeting, that things would be handled with decorum. Everyone was conscientious of the place, and the project finished on schedule as expected. This was especially surprising given the quality results, attention to detail, careful thought to fixture placement, and his patience in continuously educating us. We definitely will be using Northern Homes again!
Hint for what we appreciated the most - If supplying your own materials, source early and send Terry photos. He immediately identifies what’s still needed, and gives real-world advice on what he likes and dislikes. The job gets done way faster and can save thousands of wasted dollars, if too late / not returnable. Most importantly, it mitigates headaches during the process and issues later on, with problematic supplies!

"It was not a Happy New Year day when the ceiling in my daughters room collapsed due to a leaky roof. Despite the emergency, it was a holiday and next to impossible to get anyone in to repair the damages, including large restoration companies. However, thanks to Terry and Northern Homes they were there to save the day!"
"They got a roofer to fix the leak and once ready, they prepared the room for new insulation and drywall."

The client requested a custom "his and hers" vanity with a dedicated makeup station, featuring ample drawers and shelving for towels and personal items. At the heart of the space is a stunning freestanding soaker tub with sleek gold hardware, creating a serene focal point. The design is elevated with warm, neutral cabinetry, crystal wall sconces, and a glamorous chandelier, enhancing the spa-like atmosphere. The warm, neutral cabinetry ties the design together beautifully.
A proper caulking job by the builder could have prevented costly leaks and extended this bathroom’s life. Instead, water damage from the second floor reached the kitchen ceiling below.
We not only fixed the problem but went further, using premium German-engineered waterproofing to ensure long-lasting protection. When done right, a bathroom like this can be both stunning and built to last!
